We answer the question of what is Dope Black Dads? And a few other questions regarding the group, the podcast and the founders.
Dope Black Dads is a group/community set up by Marvyn Harrison to support being a Black Dad in the modern times, providing experiences and discussion from members.
Marvyn started the group on Fathers day 2018 via Whatsapp. He messaged 23 friends who he knew were parents and black and wanted others to know what a great morning he had had with his family.
Marvyn believes that the problems that Black Fathers have are mainly ignored by the wider society, with father struggling with access and struggling with guilt.
Marvyn is a father of two and has seen the whole process and offers help and guidance.
Dope Black Dad’s has grown into a community including the original Whatsapp group, along with a Facebook community and a regular podcast.
